First Tokenized CNTN Shares Trade on Canton Network Under SEC Innovation Exemption
Five North sold tokenized Canton Strategic Holdings stock to DRW Cumberland on 4 November 2026, with Flowdesk providing liquidity on TSV's Tradecraft pool and settlement on the Canton Network.
Canton Strategic Holdings (NASDAQ: CNTN) says the first trades of its issuer-sponsored tokenized common stock were executed on 4 November 2026 on TSV LLC, the permissioned venue for tokenized NMS stocks on the Canton Network. According to the company's release, published the same day, Five North sold as the existing shareholder, DRW Cumberland bought and Flowdesk Liquidity Solutions acted as liquidity provider, with the trades running through a permissioned pool on the Tradecraft automated market maker protocol and settling atomically on Canton.
The company describes these as the first trades of their kind under the SEC's Innovation Exemption of 17 September. Crypto Briefing reported that the first trade covered approximately 14,461 CNTN shares for about $30,296, or roughly $2.08 per share. On 29 October the company had announced its agreement with TSV and said trading could begin as early as 2 November.
How the first trades were put together
According to the release, Five North asked for its CNTN shares to be registered in tokenized form. Fairmint TA LLC, the company's SEC-registered transfer agent, then recorded the issuer-sponsored tokenized shares directly to Five North's verified Loop Wallet, moving the position from a broker-dealer account onto the company's onchain shareholder register.
TSV then set up a pool among liquidity providers including Flowdesk and DRW Cumberland. Flowdesk supplied liquidity and DRW Cumberland executed the first purchases of tokenized CNTN stock. The release says both sides of each trade settled atomically on the Canton Network.
- Seller: Five North, an existing CNTN shareholder
- Buyer: DRW Cumberland
- Liquidity provider: Flowdesk
- Transfer agent: Fairmint, which keeps the official onchain ownership record
- Venue: TSV, using the Tradecraft protocol developed by Obsidian Software LLC
"Today, the first trades are done," Chairman and CEO Mark Wendland said in the release.
Size of the first trade
The release does not give trade sizes or prices. Crypto Briefing reported that Five North sold approximately 14,461 shares to DRW Cumberland in a deal totalling about $30,296, at roughly $2.08 per share. The outlet said CNTN trades around $2 with a market capitalisation close to $170 million, so the onchain price was broadly in line with the Nasdaq listing.
Crypto Briefing described the transaction as a test run rather than a market shift, noting that volume caps and access controls under the exemption limit how much can trade on the venue.
Access rules and the regulatory framework
Only holders whose identity and wallets have been verified and approved by Fairmint can hold and trade the tokenized shares, with identity verification and sanctions screening required, according to the release. Fairmint also operates the allow list of verified holders and applies the company's transfer controls. The company says holders receive the same rights and privileges as those holding CNTN through Nasdaq.
