Canton Strategic Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ: CNTN), a Nasdaq-listed company formerly known as biotechnology firm Tharimmune, announced on 29 October 2026 an agreement to make tokenized versions of its common shares available for trading on the Canton Network. Trading is expected to begin as early as Monday, 2 November 2026, according to the company's release.
The company has signed with TSV LLC, which it describes as the permissioned venue for tokenized NMS stocks on the Canton Network, and has engaged Fairmint, an SEC-registered onchain transfer agent, to issue the shares as issuer-sponsored stock. The company says holders of the tokenized shares would receive the same rights and privileges as those holding its stock via Nasdaq. As Crypto Briefing noted, no trading has taken place yet and 2 November is a target date.
How the arrangement works
The release splits the roles between three parties:
- TSV LLC: the venue intends to bring the tokenized shares into its automated market maker, offering 24/7 trading availability and verified access for institutional and retail investors. TSV says the venue is designed to run around the clock subject to regulatorily required trading stoppages, maintenance, risk controls and trading volume limits.
- Fairmint: its subsidiary Fairmint TA LLC, an SEC-registered transfer agent (file no. 084-06901), will issue the tokenized shares, maintain the official onchain ownership record and administer compliance on every transfer.
- Tradecraft protocol: trades run through automated market maker pools on Tradecraft, developed by Obsidian Software LLC. TSV describes it as the leading automated market maker protocol by total value locked on the Canton Network.
Settlement is described as atomic: both sides of a trade transfer together, or neither does, in a single delivery versus payment transaction. Participants and their wallets must be approved before trading, including identity verification and sanctions screening, with smart contracts enforcing these rules on each token transfer, according to TSV.
TSV chief executive Ali Abrar said the venue was the first to formally notify the SEC of its intent to operate a tokenized securities venue, adding: "we wanted our first listing to set the standard."
The regulatory route
The announcement follows TSV's notification to the SEC, aligned with the regulator's 17 September Innovation Exemption, that it is building regulated access to tokenized equities on the Canton Network. TSV says it is the first tokenized securities venue to complete the Innovation Exemption process set out in Release No. 34-106402. The company says the trading is intended to be the first of its kind under the new SEC rules for tokenizing onshore US equities.
Crypto Briefing reported that the issuer-sponsored structure allows TSV to bypass the 30-day notice process that other tokenization efforts must work through, which could position it to record first trades under the exemption ahead of competitors such as the OKX-ICE joint venture. The outlet also noted that DTCC launched its tokenization service in October 2026.
The company behind the shares
According to Cointelegraph, Canton Strategic Holdings shifted its focus to digital assets in November 2025 after raising $545 million to build a business around Canton Coin (CC), and changed its name in February. It holds the token, helps operate the network and invests in projects built on it. The company says it is a Super Validator on the Canton Network and a member of the Canton Foundation.
Despite its name, the company is not the developer of the Canton Network, which was built by Digital Asset. The release states that Digital Asset is not affiliated with, and has not sponsored or endorsed, the company's operations.
Cointelegraph, citing Yahoo Finance data, reported that CNTN was trading at roughly $2.13 on 29 October, up more than 4.5% on the day, with a market capitalization of $170 million and average daily volume of 757,704 shares. CantonCap data showed CC at about $0.1015, up 0.55% over 24 hours.
Why it matters
If trading begins as planned, CNTN would be a working example of issuer-sponsored equity tokenization on the Canton Network under the SEC's Innovation Exemption. For builders, it tests a stack in which a regulated venue, an onchain transfer agent and an automated market maker share one settlement layer. For institutions, the open questions are who is admitted to the permissioned venue and how much activity it draws.
