Temple and BitGo Pair Qualified Custody With Trading on Canton
BitGo Bank & Trust will provide regulated custody for tokenized assets traded through Temple, and BitGo's institutional clients get access to Temple's markets.
Temple Digital Group, which runs an exchange and request-for-quote venue for tokenized assets on the Canton Network, announced a partnership with BitGo Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: BTGO) on 14 July 2026. The aim is to expand qualified custody for tokenized assets on Canton.
How the partnership works
- Custody. It runs through BitGo Bank & Trust, National Association, a digital asset trust bank chartered by the US Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. BitGo provides qualified custody from regulated cold storage, and settlement through its Go Network.
- Trading. Temple contributes its market infrastructure and request-for-quote platform.
- Access. BitGo's institutional clients get direct access to markets through Temple, and Temple's partners get a regulated custody option.
The assets in scope are tokenized US Treasuries, stocks, commodities, ETFs and vaults, along with other regulated markets that settle on Canton. The release contains no quotes and no figures on assets or clients.
Who the two firms are
Temple says it was founded in 2025, is headquartered in New York and is registered with FinCEN as a Money Services Business. The release describes it as Canton's leading exchange and request-for-quote venue for tokenized assets and says it contributes to the network's technical and governance work; both are Temple's own descriptions. BitGo has focused on digital assets since 2013 and describes BitGo Bank & Trust as the first federally chartered digital asset trust bank owned by a publicly traded company.
BitGo was already active on Canton. On 25 March 2026 it extended its Canton custody from Canton Coin to tokens built on the CIP-56 standard, including USDCx and cBTC, and Canton's readiness page for the DTCC Tokenization Service lists it among the wallet providers available to participants.
Why it matters
Many institutional investors may only hold assets with a qualified custodian. Linking a federally chartered trust bank to a Canton trading venue means those firms can trade tokenized assets on Canton while the assets sit with a regulated custodian. It also connects BitGo's client base to Temple's order books at a time when tokenized Treasuries and stocks are starting to settle on the network.
