Splice 0.7.0 Adds PostgreSQL 18 Support and Switches Off the Legacy Transfer Path by Default
Validator operators are told to move to token standard transfers before the old TransferCommand flow is removed. Five patch releases followed in August.
Splice, the open-source software that validators and Super Validators run on the Canton Network, reached version 0.7.0 on 30 July 2026, the date of the release tag on GitHub. Patch releases 0.7.1 to 0.7.5 followed between 7 and 27 August.
What changes in 0.7.0
- PostgreSQL 18. Splice now officially supports PostgreSQL 18. The release notes point out that PostgreSQL 14, the previous default, reaches end of life on 12 November 2026, and advise operators to upgrade before then.
- Legacy transfers off by default. The deprecated TransferCommand flow in the validator app, including its prepare and submit endpoints and the automation behind them, is now disabled by default. Token standard transfers replace it. Operators can switch it back on temporarily with a configuration flag, but full removal was expected in 0.8.0.
- Scan endpoint removed. Scan's deprecated /transactions endpoint is gone.
- Governance. The Super Validator voting screen for featured app rights can now update an app's weight.
- Deployment. The synchronizer Helm chart accepts separate JVM options for the sequencer and the mediator.
The August patches
- 0.7.1 moves to Canton 3.5.12, makes the wallet return the original result for repeated commands instead of an error, and raises the default CantonBFT segment length fourfold to reduce the performance impact of epoch switches.
- 0.7.2 moves to Canton 3.5.13, lets Super Validators keep voting while a proposal is open even after its target time, and adds official support for session-signing keys on KMS-enabled nodes.
- 0.7.3 fixes a CantonBFT issue that surfaced on DevNet.
- 0.7.4 adds global, per-client-IP and sustained rate limits to the Scan and Super Validator apps, and a metric for vote requests that need action.
- 0.7.5 moves to Canton 3.5.15, changes how client IPs are read for rate limiting, and deprecates Scan's v1 /state/acs and /holdings/state endpoints in favour of v2 versions.
What operators need to do
Wallets, exchanges and other integrations that still send Canton Coin through TransferCommand must migrate to token standard transfers, which also support delayed submission under CIP-107. Operators on PostgreSQL 14 have until 12 November to upgrade, and Super Validator operators who set the rate-limiting header options in 0.7.4 had to migrate them again in 0.7.5.
