Singapore's 1exchange Approved as a Canton Validator for Tokenized Real-World Assets
The MAS-licensed Recognized Market Operator, part of FOMO Group, plans to use Canton's privacy and compliance controls for future tokenization, listing and trading.
1exchange, a Singapore exchange for listing and trading tokens that represent real-world assets (RWAs), announced on 4 August 2026 that it has been approved as a validator on the Canton Network. The announcement was published on Canton's press release page.
1exchange is licensed by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) as a Recognized Market Operator and is a member of FOMO Group. It runs a regulated marketplace for the tokenization, listing and secondary trading of real-world assets, and offers on-chain infrastructure for issuers and investors.
What 1exchange plans on Canton
- Tokenization, listing and trading. It will use Canton's infrastructure for its future RWA business.
- Confidentiality. Canton's selective disclosure lets participants share transaction data only with relevant, authorised parties. 1exchange says this helps issuers protect commercially sensitive information such as investor identities, ownership records and transaction data.
- Built-in compliance. It aims to bring Canton's controls, such as transfer restrictions and investor eligibility requirements, directly into its tokenization process.
1exchange chief executive Sheena Lim said Canton "aligns closely with the needs of institutional capital markets." Yuval Rooz, chief executive of Digital Asset and a co-founder of Canton, said regulated institutions want the speed, liquidity and composability of on-chain markets without giving up confidentiality, governance or regulatory oversight, and that 1exchange helps expand Canton's presence in Asia.
The release does not name any assets 1exchange will bring to Canton, nor a date for its node or first listings. It carries a disclaimer that it is not investment advice and has not been reviewed by the MAS.
What a validator does
According to Canton's documentation, validators validate transactions, record activity, connect users and applications to the network and coordinate upgrades. They are distinct from Super Validators, which run the core infrastructure of the Global Synchronizer and vote on the network's rules.
Why it matters
A licensed Singapore market operator for tokenized securities joining as a validator extends the network's regulated footprint in Asia, the region Digital Asset singled out in the release. Whether it leads to RWA listings settling on Canton is the next thing to watch.
