REX-Osprey Canton Coin ETF Moves Its Effective Date to 16 October; Grayscale Still Pending
A filing with the SEC on 17 September pushed the fund's effective date back by about a month, the third such extension since July. Grayscale's Canton ETF registration has seen no amendment since June.
The REX-Osprey Canton Coin ETF will not become effective in September. On 17 September 2026, ETF Opportunities Trust filed an amendment with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for the sole purpose of designating 16 October 2026 as the fund's new effective date.
What the filing says
The document is a Form 485BXT and relates only to the REX-Osprey Canton Coin ETF. It sets the new effective date for Post-Effective Amendment No. 486, which the trust filed for the fund on 1 December 2025. The filing makes no other changes.
A monthly pattern
The trust has made the same kind of filing every month since July, each one moving the date back by about four weeks. Each new filing has come one day before the previous date was due:
| Filed | New effective date |
|---|
| 23 July 2026 | 21 August 2026 |
| 20 August 2026 | 18 September 2026 |
| 17 September 2026 | 16 October 2026 |
Grayscale and 21Shares
Grayscale's proposed Canton ETF filed an S-1 registration statement with the SEC on 5 June 2026. SEC records show no amendment to that filing since.
For context, a Canton fund already trades in the United States: 21Shares' Canton Network ETF, ticker TCAN, began trading on Nasdaq in May 2026, The Block reported at the time, describing it as the first fund to track Canton.
The REX-Osprey fund has now been in registration since 1 December 2025, more than nine months.
Why it matters
A second US-listed fund tied to Canton Coin would widen regulated access to CC for investors who use ordinary brokerage accounts.
The repeated extensions keep the REX-Osprey registration alive, but they say nothing about when, or whether, the fund will launch. 16 October is a date to watch, not a confirmed launch date, and the same pattern could continue. The Grayscale filing has not moved since June. Nothing in these filings changes the token itself; they concern only whether and when a US fund tied to CC can begin trading.
