Brale, a stablecoin issuance platform, introduced ION Protocol on 29 July 2026 at Chicago Stablecoin Day. ION is a cross-chain settlement system for stablecoins that Brale issues. Canton and Digital Asset, the company that created Canton, are among the 20 launch partners Brale lists.
How ION works
According to Brale, a transfer burns the stablecoin on the source chain and mints the destination stablecoin on the destination chain, one-to-one, in seconds. There are no liquidity pools, bridges or wrapped assets. Brale acts as both issuer of record and attestor, so the entity that confirms the burn is the one that guarantees the mint. ION will get its own APIs and SDKs for apps, aggregators, routers and wallets.
Brale says it has launched more than 300 stablecoin programs across 27 blockchains and that its engine has settled more than $10 billion in mint, burn and swap transactions. These are the company's own figures.
Founder and chief executive Ben Milne told FF News that liquidity between stablecoin programs is "the #1 barrier to scaling bespoke stablecoins."
Status
Brale says an alpha is available now on an initial set of chains, with a limited testnet group open to issuers, platforms and developers. Its post gives no date for general availability; FF News reported that the testnet was scheduled for the third quarter of 2026.
The launch partners listed are Bankroll, Base, Better Money Company, Canton, Coinflow, Digital Asset, Etherfuse, Lightspeed, Monad, NEA, Para, Radius, Rain, Solana, Spark, SquareFi, StableSea, The Stable Coin Company, Turnkey and YouPay. Brale's post does not describe what Canton or Digital Asset will contribute, or whether Canton is among the first supported chains.
Brale's link to Canton
Brale already issues USDA, a stablecoin for Temple Digital Group, which runs a trading venue on Canton. In its August product update, published on 18 August, Brale said Temple's USDA had grown to more than $4 million in circulation and that Temple had become Canton's top application by network revenue in July. Both are Brale's own claims and were not independently verified.
Why it matters
If Canton joins ION as a supported chain, Brale-issued stablecoins such as USDA could move between Canton and other networks without a bridge or a liquidity pool. For now it is a partner listing at alpha stage, so it is an early signal rather than a live integration.
